Identification Characteristic of Artificial Phantom Crystal

"White phantom crystal" is the trade name of crystal which contains white mineral inclusions. It's more expensive than ordinary crystals. A kind of phantom crystals with artificial inclusions that is similar to natural phantom crystal has appeared in the market recently. After gemmological, FTIR spectra and Raman spectra tests, it was found that the white inclusions in the artificial phantom crystal are different from inclusions in the natural phantom crystal. The research results revealed that the white mineral inclusions in the natural phantom crystal samples are dolomite. The main body of the artificial phantom crystal samples is natural but the white inclusions in the samples are made by laser engraving. It is suggested to test the inclusions when identifying this kind of crystals.
